Special Fundraiser
Funding the Director's Salary (Stacie Ledford)

Our goal for this fundraiser is to raise funds to provide a salary for Stacie Ledford, Director of Rock Bottom Recovery, to compensate her for the incredible work she is doing in supporting and working tirelessly to change the trajectory of those in the throes of addiction in our communities. If you are unfamiliar with the organization, please watch the video below!

A little background on how this fundraiser came to be…

A group of us got together in August of 2021 to discuss the possibility of raising donations to provide a salary to Stacie for the work she does and the countless hours she pours into Rock Bottom every single day of every single week all year long. Stacie easily invests 60 hours a week with Rock Bottom Recovery whether through the impactful prison ministry she started in three counties or the weekly meetings she holds for Rock Bottom support members, or through 1:1 peer mentoring which she provides as a Certified Peer Specialist in North Carolina or the countless hours she spends on the phone helping people looking to move into or remain in recovery from Substance Abuse, not to mention the many trips she invests in driving individuals to rehabilitation facilities across the southeast.

To say Stacie spends the same amount of hours investing in Rock Bottom as she would in a full time job is an understatement. And yet… she does all of this as a volunteer. So the group who met last year decided that our community cannot afford for Stacie to burn out. But more than that, we want to see her compensated for the time, energy and efforts she invests with Rock Bottom Recovery. With a salary provided to compensate her efforts, Stacie would be able to invest in even more ways to Rock Bottom to ensure its longevity and sustainability as a proven successful support group for those suffering from the disease of substance abuse.

If you are unsure what all Stacie does and what her vision for Rock Bottom is and why she is so vital to the continued fight against substance abuse in our area, please take some time to watch the video below. If nothing else, it’s worth it just to simply be inspired by someone going above and beyond to love her neighbor. And while we are actively pursuing grant opportunities to assist in our fundraising efforts for this salary for Stacie, we need your support in the meantime. We have no guarantee that we will secure a grant to fund her salary. And while we hope that is possible, we want to pursue every avenue in the meantime to raise support for this cause.

So our ask is this… will you consider partnering with us by making a decision to commit to a monthly recurring donation or a one-time annual donation to fund a salary for Stacie Ledford as the president of Rock Bottom Recovery and Support? While a monthly donation is the preferred donation commitment, we also realize for others, a one-time annual donation is the preferred option. So below, you will find several options for donating to this cause.

All donations are tax deductible and a 2022 tax form will be sent to you at the close of the calendar year.

Trouble hearing the video? See the transcript for Stacie Ledford’s Testimony I'm Stacie Ledford, I am President of Rock Bottom Recovery and Support. I do Rock Bottom because I have been that person in that jail. So I learned a hard lesson: I can either chase recovery or I can keep chasing my drug of choice and lose everything I've got. So my passion comes from lived experience. I felt alone, I was beyond depressed - when you reach a point that you see other people's lives being better if you're not in it and you have these thoughts you don't want to live anymore, that's a sad place to be. That's where a lot of these people are. That is rock bottom. A lot of these people have nobody, so our presence - just being in that courtroom when they're brought in from the jail and they see us sitting there - can make somebody… it can make their life. Because they're like, “there they are. They do care about me.” So my prayer is by going in these jails I can let these girls know, say “Hey, I've been where you are, I know what you're feeling - but let me tell you there's a better way. There's a better life.” This work that we do is so important because there's not many willing to do it because it is hard. We’ve gotta be the hands and feet, literally. We've GOT to. I mean it is hard work to do, but somebody has to do it. Somebody has to go pick these people up. And God promises that - He promises us ALL - Jeremiah 29:11 says and know the plans I have for you, plans to prosper you and not harm you, plans for hope and a future.

“At the end it’s not about what you have or even what you’ve accomplished. It’s about who you’ve lifted up, who you’ve made better. It’s about what you’ve given back.”
